"My paintings sometimes concern objects or places that I associate with particular people or with events that have meaning for me. Or they may be images of people, places, or things that are by happenstance both available and that capture my imagination. I see images in my mind as I am falling asleep or when I read a book. So painting has long seemed a natural thing to attempt, a means of visually walking around an object, be it a vase, an apple, the folds of a napkin, or the tree down the path. A way of being more 'there.' And an attempt to convey what that means to me."
