Debra Hull grew up in Ohio with a vivid imagination, an optimistic take on life, and a need for sunshine.

She graduated with degrees in English and Mass Communications from the University of Miami in Oxford, Ohio and embarked upon an adventure in the marketing/advertising/writing field which took her all over the world. Her husband, her job, and the sun brought her to the South Carolina Lowcountry in 1986.

Over the years, Ms. Hull has excelled in bringing her clients' print, exhibition and media projects to life in creative ways. On the side, she painted for her own enjoyment and, eventually, to add flair to her childrens' lives and surroundings.

The Lighthearted Lowcountry series was born when she painted "red fish" and "spot tail" for a commission on Daufuskie Island in South Carolina.
